FAQ
What are the files someone should backup when using PlanetPress Suite?
Details
The most complete way of backuping stuff (and the least redundant one) is to backup the following folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Objectif Lune\PlanetPress Suite 6
This will automatically include:
- All installed fonts
- All installed PPD's
- The current PPWatch/PPServer configuration
- The Virtual Drive
- The custom spell-check dictionaries
- Current logs and currently backed-up data files
- Currently activated printer licenses
So in case of a major system crash, the end-user only needs to reinstall PPSuite (and reactivate it)
and copy this folder (along with all its children) over to the next machine.
NOTE: the only important things that are not included in this folder are the PlanetPress Documents
themselves (*.pp6). These must be copied manually from whatever location they are stored in. Obviously,
if end-users make a habit of saving their documents under the folder mentioned above, then they'll be able to
back-up everything from a single location.
