It would be nice to add a check box for Code 128 Auto that would encode your data with the shortest possible number of bars.

• Code 128 Subset A supports numbers, upper-case letters, and control characters, such as tab and new-line.
• Code 128 Subset B supports numbers, upper- and lower-case letters
• Code 128 Subset C supports numbers only

Just to clarify: you'd like this option to force the application to automatically select the best Code 128 subset, based on the contents of the data selection that makes up the barcode?

So for instance, if the data selection on data page 1 contains "1234567", you'd like the application to automatically select Subset C, but if the same data selection, on data page 2, contains "1234DEF789", the barcode used would be Subset B.

Is my understanding correct?

Subset A and Subset B appear to be the same size, but Subset C is much shorter.

To re-phrase the scenario... If the data selection on page 1 contains only numerical characters, the the choice would be Subset C. Let's say that the data selection on page 2 contains both upper and lower case alpha characters, but no ASCII control codes. This I would assume would be Subset B.

Here is the list of rules as I understand them.

• 128A - 0-9, A-Z, ASCII control codes, special characters
• 128B - 0-9, A-Z, a-z, special characters
• 128C - 00-99 (double density encoding of numeric only data)

OK, that's how I understood it.

Our feature set is already frozen for the next minor version of the Suite (which should be coming out by late February), but I'll keep your suggestion on file for subsequent releases.
