Am doing a direct mail postcard, so am merging variable data (excel) with the base creative (pdf). Am printing on SRA3, so am able to do 6 records per sheet. Ideally before we go to press we like to print all the records to PDF first and then send the PDF file to the printer. However recently when we have created the PDF we see that that not all the images are good (poor print quality), specifically the base creative. The variable part is fine.Bizarley, as a for instance, on this job where there are 6 to view, one image is good, but the other 5 are not. This problem only seems to have recently started. Anyone come across this?

How are you creating your PDF, are you doing File -> Save as PDF? If so, make sure that you are at least selecting "High Quality" in the PDF Settings at the bottom.

You can fine-tune the PDF settings if you have Adobe Distiller (either on that machine or another). Just edit an existing .joboptions files or create a new one, and place it (in the Printshop Mail Machine) under %AllUsersProfile%\Shared Documents\Adobe PDF\Settings\
