every once in a while my C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS gets a bad 0 KB file causing a jam and all print jobs behind the bad file don't process. The only way (I know how) to resolve the issue is to restart the print spooler service. That flushes out all jobs, and the users have to re-submit their print jobs .....
What I would like to do is create a process that will read/count then send out an email alert if there are more than 100 print jobs in the C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS folder. Any ideas?

I'm open for any other way to resolve the issue.

You could setup a Workflow process that has the Folder Listing plugin has your Input with *.spl as the mask.

That will generate an XML file with the list of file(s) found in your SPOOL\PRINTER folder.

Then using a Text condition, you will look at the field count of the resulting XML file and voilà.

Hope that helps.
