we have an HP 4015DN with 4 trays.

The trays are numbered as follows:

Tray 1 is the manual feeder.

Input/Output Status Capacity Size Type
Tray 2 OK 500 Sheets LETTER PLAIN
Tray 3 OK 500 Sheets A4 LIGHT 60-75 G/M2
Tray 4 OK 500 Sheets LETTER LABELS
Tray 5 OK 500 Sheets LEGAL PLAIN

the issue I am having is that I cannot get the pages to duplex at all, and I cannot get the printer to select the proper trays. They always come out of tray 2 (plain paper tray). For example I cannot get my sheet of labels to pull from tray 4, it always pulls from tray 2.

I will post my ppd file if required.

Thanks for the help.

A couple of things to try:

- Does either of them works if you try them alone? In other words, does duplex without tray calls, or tray calls without duplex works fine? Try both features with a new blank form with just two pages with a box on them, and nothing else.

- Have you tried using media selections instead of tray calls? On some printers, this works better.

- Are you sending directly to the printer, or are you using a RIP? (Such as a Fiery, Creo, etc...)

- Have you tried both Printer Centric and Optimized PostScript? Try printing using both modes, see if that makes a difference.

- Did you make sure the ppd you are using is the correct one for the printer? Have you tried the default ppd?

Let us know the results of these tests!
