Migration Question

Migration Question - 08/25/09 02:36 PM

Our organization is currently running PPv4. I've just built a new server running Windows 2003 R2 64-bit.

I've looked through the PPv7 forum and there seems to be a lot of issues. Should I migrate from version 4 to version 6 or go straight to version 7? Please advise.

thank you.

Good afternoon Ms Wallace,

The 64-bit version of Windows Server 2003 is not officially supported at the moment.

Although no actual issues were reported about it, there COULD potentially be issues because of this. Even though it would work, it would be safer to install on a fully supported OS version.

Please refer to this link for all hardware and software requirements.
Planet Press 7 release notes (check the "note 1" at the bottom)

Feel free to follow up if you have any more inquiries, it will be my pleasure to help you clarify them.

Have a nice afternoon,

Thank you for the reply. I will stick to the recommendations, just to be safe. As for my question in regarding upgrading to PPv6 or PPv7. Since PPv7 is fairly new, would it be safe to upgrade my organization from PPv4 to PPv6 or v7? Please advise.

thank you.

Hello Lisa,
You may think that I am a bit biased since I work for Objectif Lune, but I just want you to know that we are running version 7 on our own production environment. In fact, every release we ship runs on our production environment before we release it to the public.

Of course, I would advise you to test it in a sandbox with your actual processes as you should do with any software you want to update before going to production.
