Hi all,

I appreciate this is possibly in the wrong sub-forum, but I have been given a bit of scope to update/renew my pc...Of late, I've found that PP has been rather slow on my pc - Design takes an age to load, moving around a form takes quite a while, data files take forever to load etc. I'm hoping it's down to the spec of my current pc. This is what I am currently using:

Windows 2000 SP 4;
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 1.60GHz;
758MB RAM.

Could anyone suggest an 'ideal spec' for a pc to handle running PP at a decent speed? I'd appreciate the views of anyone answering here - perhaps if you can nip around Design with no problems at all, let me know the spec of your machine?

Thanks to all!

Neil.

A little tip. I found exactly the same - loading takes forever and compiling a form takes even longer. The delay is down to our virus checker. PP5 seems to go and touch every font file on the system before it does anything, and that means our the virus checker has to scan them all, repeatedly.

Version 6 appears to access only the font files it actually needs and is a lot quicker.

Hi Stuart,

hmm...Thanks for that, very interesting. I might have a chat with my boss next week to see if I can get my anti-virus disabled for a few minutes and see if it makes a difference - if it does, maybe an upgrade is on the cards...

Cheers wink

Neil.
