Hi,

hope you can help put an end to my frustration. One of the guys in the office asked for help with a form, so I opened it up on my copy of PP5 and made some changes. One of the things that needed changing while we were working on it, was the colour of some text in a textbox. I opened the textbox, highlighted it and then looked for the colour selection - but I didn't have it. So we started trawling through all the options and eventually found what we thought was it under "View" (right clicking the area at the top of the text box and then selecting "view"). But when I tried changing the colour, it changed the colour of the whole of my text box, not just the word. We went back and forth between his PC & mine but we just couldn't work out what was going on. We are both running exactly the same version of PP5 (5.3.4.2644) but we can't work out why he can change text colour and I can't. We also noticed that when clicking in the area at the top of the box, I get:

  • Format
  • Font
  • Main Menu
  • Tools
  • View
  • Variables
  • Edit

And on my colleagues PC, we get:

  • Format
  • Font
  • Main Menu
  • Tools
  • View
  • Variables
  • Edit
  • Alignment

I also can't get the "Edit" menu from the Main Menu. When ticking on Main Menu, all I get is Format/View/Variables & Tools as can be seen in the image below.

Can anyone suggest what's going on here?! Here's a pic of each to try and define a little further:

I can make the colour selector go and return by clicking on the rightmost little down-arrow that says "add or remove" and then picking "colour".

Stuart

Hi Stuart,

nope, not for me...I can't find "colour" in any add/remove menus. So frustrating! I think I'm going to try re-installing to see if that makes a difference...May seem overkill for such a small problem but it bothers me that if I can't fix this, what else am I missing?!

Hmmm...So I uninstalled & reinstalled from the cd. Magic, everything appears as it should. So I then upgraded from the web to the latest version of PP5 - 5.3.4.2644, rebooted the pc, fired it up again and it disappeared again! So I now seemingly have the option of having everything and an older version or updating to the new and losing functionality. Really odd seeing as the guy sat opposite me has the latest version and all functionality...

The bizareness continues. I just logged off my pc and back on as admin and lo & behold, everything appears as it should. I logged off and back on as a standard user and it disappeared again! What is going on???

Sorted! My colleague remembered that pressing CTRL when loading PP5 resets everything to default. I did this and it all appeared like magic laugh
