Is it possible to change a shapes colour (box/circle/etc) by picking up a field in a data file?

I will have to set up a standard template, but the colour scheme of the template has to change depending on the category of data.

I know I can make lots of shapes and set up a condition for each category and assign it to the correct shape, but this is very bulky and difficult to update in the future (with new categories and changes to colour scheme)

I have a feeling I'll have to use PressTalk but don't know what to do.
