Hi,

I have a requirement to create a new PlanetPress document and print it in a saddle-stitched booklet format. The target printer is a Nexpress 2100 and VDX technology is currently used for printing documents to this printer.

Is it possible to create a VDX document in PlanetPress that prints in booklet format? If so, how would I go about doing this?

Or does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Colette,

The following will assume that you have the VDX plugin for Watch activated. If you don't, contact your reseller for more info. This will be a general description of how to proceed. For more detailed steps, please refer to the PlanetPress Design reference guide from our documentation package.

To create VDX booklets, you will need first to create a VDX form (caching method = VDX). Your cached pages must be virtual pages, which you will call using normal pages. Your paper handling settings for the booklet will need to be configured on the normal pages, or at document level. (I suggest you find the right recipe for making booklets on your printer with a regular document first.)

Then, once your VDX form is created and the paper handling set up, you will send it to PPWatch, and will create a process that will contain the "create VDX" plugin. The output from that plugin will be useable to print on your Nexpress with VDX technology.

I recommend you go through the reference guide for all important details. Remember that you need an activation of the Watch plugin "create VDX".

Thanks. Regards,

Olivier
