We need to print multiple pages pulled from different trays (pre-printed stock)

We were trying to select paper trays for Xerox Nuvera 120 DC/P PS. However trays are not available in the Page Setup window. We can go to Advanced Properties, but we only can set up Color, size, type, weight. We've tried to make different colour for each layout (page) to be able to have a request on the printer, but seems like spool file doesn't have the information for the second page colour and pulls paper from the same tray.

Please advise how we can manage with selecting of the paper trays.

Thank you!!!!

Hi,

Please contact support and we will take a look at the ppd. There might be some slight modifications needed to the ppd.

Thanks
Cosimo

Hi Cosimo,

Thank you for your advice!!

I have done some changes to PPD, but seems like it slows down spolling files to printer.

Do you please advise why it's happening, and is there any solution to improve the spooling speed?

I've added to my PPD:
*% Input Slot =======================
*OpenUI *InputSlot/Paper Source: PickOne
*OrderDependency: 20 AnySetup *InputSlot
*DefaultInputSlot: Auto
*InputSlot Auto/Printer Auto Select: "
setpagedevice"
*End
*InputSlot Tray1/Tray 1: "
((/MediaPosition 1 /MediaColor(WHITE) /MediaType(Preprinted) /ManualFeed false )) setpagedevice"
*End
*InputSlot Tray2/Tray 2: "
((/MediaPosition 2 /MediaColor(BLUE) /MediaType(Preprinted) /ManualFeed false)) setpagedevice"
*End
*InputSlot Tray3/Tray 3: "
((/MediaPosition 3 /MediaColor(YELLOW) /MediaType(Preprinted) /ManualFeed false)) setpagedevice"
*End
*?InputSlot: "

******
PS: I've replaced << >> on (( )), to be able to post this message.
Thank you very much in advance.

Hi,

Just with this info, I do not see anything that can affect the performance.
As mentioned in the previous post, it would probably be best to Report and Issue and someone will be glad to look into this problem further.

Thanks
Cosimo

Hi Cosimo,

Thank you for your reply!!

My co-workers are saying that spooling job to printer in versions before PSM 5.2.3 was very fast. With version PSM 5.2.3 it takes 7 min to spool 1000 pages of 4 pages document, and it's only 250 records of thousands required.Because of that we are often switching to MSWord mail merge, instead of setting it up in PSM.

Could you please advise what can we do to improve the spooling speed. Any hardware requirements, RAM?

Are there any improvements in PSM 6 version?

Thank you in advance!

The current version of PrintShop Mail 6 is 6.0.2

In version 6.0.1 a major rewrite of the output system was done, to improve preflight and production times.

Kind regards,
Floris

Hi Floris,

We have upgraded PrintShopMail to version 6.0.2, but we still have the problem of slow spooling to printer's queue of multiple layouts setup.

Do you know any solutions how we can improve the spooling speed?

Thank you in advance!

Can you check the user Print Technology? (Edit - Preferences - Print job)?

Also, if you have used complex expressions, this may slow down production speed. In that case, you can send your files (PSM files, sample data, resources) to support@printshopmail.com

I have heard from one source that production slowed down after using windows update recently, however, I haven't received more details, nor any other reports suggesting this is a common issue.
