Does PlanetPress support AFP files? If not, will support be added in the future?

PlanetPress documents do not natively handle AFP files.

In some circumstances (and depending on the actual AFP stream), PlanetPress Watch processes can be set up to handle the stream and extract data from it before passing it on to a PlanetPress document. But even in those cases, only the data can be extracted, not the AFP resources.

If the AFP file is printed from the mainframe to a Xerox RIP server, can PlanetPress capture the RIP for processing?

I don't know the specifics of the Xerox RIP server, but if it can share its folders, then PlanetPress Watch can certainly capture its contents. Or the RIP could simply send its job to an LPR queue monitored by a PlanetPress Watch server.

That doesn't mean the AFP data will be usable, however. So while this is "possible", you'll have to try it out to see what can be done with the AFP job.
