Lance OL Toddler Registered: 10/24/07 Posts: 42 Loc: Bloomsburg, PA	Hi, I'm trying to set up a PDF file as a data source, but when I set the emulation to PDF, I get... "An error occurred while changing emulation: Access violation at address 218323B8 in module 'DL81PDFL.dll'. Read of address 000008E8. Make sure you are using a valid datafile." I've tried several different PDFs and get this for all of them. Is there something I'm missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, --Lance

If so, try opening the PDF as the data, and let the program change it to PDF Emulation automatically, do not do it before you import the pdf or it might not work. Also, does the problem occurs with only one form? If you create a new blank form and try to import a pdf, does it work better? Regards, Rapha

I'm starting a new PP document from scratch in Design and want to make the PDF my data source, but I keep gettng this error when I select the file and set the emulation to PDF.

Raphael Lalonde Lefebvre OL Expert Registered: 10/14/05 Posts: 4956 Loc: Objectif Lune Montreal	Lance, Have you tried regenerating one of the pdf files? It could happen that some pdf may be generated with some options that are incompatible, especially if they were made using the newer versions of pdf creation applications. If you have Acrobat(full version), take one of the pdf files, and save it to a .ps file, and using Distiller, regenerate a new pdf, using pdf version 1.3, which is the lowest but most compatible version. Then try to load the pdf again, and see if it works better. Regards, Rapha

For anyone who may encounter this in the future, the solution is that the DLL seems to be looking for fonts in the users local profile. The folder C:\Documents and Settings\\WINDOWS\Fonts needs to exist. It doesn't have to have anything in it, it just needs to exist.
