I am working on a multiple page document that contains a variable from data page 2 that I need to use on data page 1. Anyone know of a way I can retrieve that variable from data page two while on data page 1 or any way to go to page 2 and then back to page 1?

Hi again Patrick,

By default this isn't possible simply because of the way printers work - one line at a time, one page at a time.

A workaround (slightly complex, though) would be to put all of your first page data into variables and then skip to page 2 without printing it, and then when you get to page 2 you take the variables you need, build both pages and print both out.

This would require quite a lot of PlanetPress Talk though, and it out of the scope of this newsgroup. If you want to do this with our help, you'll have to open a web support call, and we'll see what we can do.

Eric.

Hi Patrick,

If you have watch, you can use a job info to store the variable from page 2 to use on page 1 when outputting. Simply use either a data selection or a simple script to assign the value.

Regards,

Olivier

Eric / Olivier,

Both are some great suggestions! I can't tell you all how much I appreciate your help with my recent issues.
