Has or is anyone running Planet Press on a mac? The Mac can switch between Mac and PC mode. You can load Windows XP system on the Mac, just wondering is Planet Press will still work and if anyone is doing it.
thanks

cpamc,

The software was originally designed for working on PCs, so running it on a Mac won't be supported. Since you can install Windows XP, the program might actually boot up, but there might be problems with activations, since they are based on the computer's hardware, and wasn't designed for Mac usage. There may be other problems, some features might not work properly, so basically, if you do install it, you do so at your own risks.

Regards,
Rapha

Thank you. Just wondering if anyone out there has tried it. The Mac has a intel processor just like a PC. The big question would be the activation reading the hard disk number.

This is not an official statement from OL but just my personal experience:

I do run it myself in VM Ware Fusion on my MacBook Pro, it runs fine for myself.

Best regards,

So the activation worked too?

Thanks so much

Yes it worked fine.

We do support VM Ware so that is no surprise.

Daniel,

I think what cpamc meant is to use PlanetPress with Bootcamp, not in a VM.

cpamc, as Raphael said, this should indeed function as the hardware for Intel Macs is basically PC hardware, and the Magic number should be stable (though, as Raph said again, we can't guarantee that).

However, I just want to warn that though the activation should work fine when booting straight to the windows/bootcamp partition, it won't work if you're accessing Windows through Parallels or VMWare Fusion, because it will then use a lot of "virtual" hardware that will most likely change the magic number.

Hope this helps,
Eric.

Thanks for the great advice!! If you boot to the windows partition, do you know if VMWare Fusion allows you to open the mac side? Or does VMWare Fusion only work if you boot from the Mac partition?

Maybe Daniel can answer that, I don't use VMWare Fusion myself.

VMWare fusion is a Mac application so you boot in Mac OS, launch VMWare fusion and from within there you run your favorite Microsoft OS.

I think you can run VMWare and still use the bootcamp partition instead of the "virtualized" file system they offer by default but I haven't tried that. I suggest you refer to VM Ware Fusion's web page for those details.

Best regards,
