When I click on "preferences", I get no response.

Is there any other way to access this other than via the "yellow blob" ?

stuartg,

Normally, the preferences window should display, this is the only way to access it. Maybe try to access via keyboard(Alt+F+Y6). If it doesn't work, try closing the Watch configurator, reopen it and try again. Make sure you have the latest 7.0.1 version.

If all fails, try reinstalling Watch.

Rapha

stuartg,

If you go through the normal download link, you should be able to download the latest version of 7. The link is:
http://www.objectiflune.com/OL/en-CA/Download/Demo/PlanetPressSuite.aspx

Enter your V7 license number, and that will give you the installer for the latest 7.0.1 version.

Ok. I upgraded to V 7.0.1.4674 and I still have the problem.
I have now installed this on 3 test servers and none of the give the preferences screen.
One previously had V5.3, one had V6.1 and one had not previously had PlanetPress installed. I have tried uninstalling V7 and reinstalling and then rebooting. No success.

I have also tried installing Watch on my Pc and here it does work.

The only consisent difference I can find is that my Pc is running Windows XP SP2 and the others are running Server 2003 SP2.

Can you confirm whether it works for you under Server 2003?
Thanks

I found another test server and installed Watch on there. Preferences does not work.

This server is also running Windows Server 2003 SP2.

stuartg,

I tested the latest version of PPWatch on 2003, and I was able to access the preferences.

Are you using a 64 bit version of Windows, or are you using Terminal Services? Neither environments are supported by our software, and it could cause all sort problems if you attempt to use Watch on these systems.

Rapha

It may also occur in a domain environment. Maybe there is a something in the Active Directory that is not properly handled. Are you running WatchConfig with a domain user or a local user? If your computer is part of a domain, can you install Watch on a non-domain computer and see if the dialog comes up?

Thanks for your suggestions.

We are running a 32 bit version of Windows. We are using Terminal services and we have used this for many years from version 4 onwards. According to this post terminal services aka remote desktop is fully supported.

Things I have tried with no success -
Using the server console instead of remote desktop
Using a local user instead of a domain user
Using a real server instead of a VMWare virtual server.

I cannot try removing a server from the domain until I find a tame domain administrator....

I have cracked it.

With only Watch 7.0.1 installed, the preferences dialog doesn't come up.

If I install PPDesign as well, the Watch preferences dialog does come up!
