Hi

I did a process to not print PDFs, after them been generated by PlanetPress Image, but I have problems with some PDF readers like: Acrobat Reader 9, Photoshop and PDF Viewer.

How can I block this for these PDF Readers ?

Thanks

Raphael,

Do you mean that you want the PDFs created using PlanetPress to have a restriction so they do not print?

There is a checkmark in the PlanetPress Image, on the PDF tab, that allows printing. Unchecking this option and entering a Permissions password will indeed prevent the PDF from being printed (the permissions password is mandatory).

Hope this helps,
Eric.

Eric

I uncheck this option. My process is correct.

My problem is with these PDF readers, that I wrote in first post.

When I open the PDFs (that should be unprintable) by Acrobat Reader 9, Photoshop or PDF Viewer, I can print.

Why this happens ?

Raphael,

Not to be a bother, but did you put in a password? It won't work if the password is blank.

I tried with Adobe Reader 9.0 and it did not permit printing. I also tried with two other PDF viewers (PDF-XChange Viewer and FoxIT reader) and both are also prevented from printing.

Now, just because there is a feature that will password-protect a PDF or prevent it from printing, does not mean that every single PDF reader out there will obey this rule. There might be free tools or readers that are not officially compatible with Adobe that would simply ignore such setting, but I haven't seen one. You mention Photoshop which I don't have so can't test with, and "PDF Reader" which is a bit too vague to identify. I'd like to know where I can download a demo or free version to test it.

Regards,
Eric.

Yes, I put the password and all PDF Readers that I told you, the password was required.

My surprise was print with Adobe Reader 9 and Adobe Photoshop.

But is acceptable that another free PDF reader ignore the settings.

Raphael,

As I said I used Adobe Reader 9 (Both the Reader version and the Professional version) and none let me print.

As for Photoshop, I just checked with a colleague that had Photoshop 7.0, and when she opened the PDF it asked her for the password before she was able to print. I have no reason to believe that Adobe would not integrate its own security features in other products.

If you still require help on this, please open a support call, by phone or through the web .

We could then take a look at your configuration and software and see what's going on.

Hope this helps,
Eric.
