Hi we are using PlanetPress 7. We have a problem that has not surfaced till recent. There are weird characters or missing text in our print jobs. This is not consistent and we cannot duplicate it efficiently to say that either its Adobe or PP7 or our printers

We have tried updating our print drivers, updating Adobe and PP7. This problem exists in multiple printers and not just one.

msgopala,

We need more information.

1. When you say "weird characters", what exactly do you mean?
2. What change did you do to the form right before it started happening? Did you change some text, add a pdf, change some code?
3. Does the problem happens anywhere in the document, or it's usually toward the middle or end of the job?
4. How large is the data you're sending? Did you try smaller data files, and do they work better?

Let us know!

Regards,
Rapha

Raphael,

1. By weird characters I mean small boxes instead of alphabets. Sometimes text is repalced by boxes or alphabets are missing from words.

2. There has been no change to the document. We testing our jobs one by one and we never noticed any problem. Now we are running all jobs consecutively as a production test before production use.And w esee this problem occuring on the second and subsequent jobs that run.

3. The problem occurs anywhere in the document.

4. We are testing with upto 618kb data files and they will be larger in production runs.

We have discovered that stopping the service in between job runs fixes the problem. But we should not have to do that. Stopping the service in production between job runs will cause us a time lag.

Thank you for your response and this seems to be a pp7 problem

msgopala,

The boxes and missing characters, do they appear in text contained in a pdf? If that's the case, have you tried regenerating the pdf, convert it to eps or even to a raster(such as TIFF)? These problems are sometimes seen on pdf files, and regenerating the pdf or converting it often fixes the problem.

Rapha

Yes we haev tried regenarating the pdf several times. We still ahev the asme problem. We will try to convert it to a TIFF but we would like to keep it as a PDF file if possible.

What I cannot understand is that why I don't have the problem with the first job and why we have this problem only on consecutive runs, also
stopping the pp7 service and re starting it between job runs (basically acts as refresh) and seems to fix this problem. \

Thank you again.
