Hi,
I'm evaluating the Demo version of this product (PSM Design ver 7.0) at the request of one of our customers, who happens to have a MySQL DB he wants to use for VDP.

Right now every single feature seems to work fine, except the one I want to test the most: ODBC connection. When I open the "Open DB" dialog box and click on the ODBC button, nothing happens!

Is it an issue with this Demo version? Do I need the dongle for this operation? is it a Windows Vista related issue? (which is the OS I've been using)

Please, I appreciate your help! PSM is every inch the right solution, if only I could test the ODBC feature.

Checklist:
- Open a regular Excel DB [DONE]
- Open a regular TXT file (or CSV) [DONE]
- Open a regular Access DB [DONE]
- User DSN connection for MySQL created [DONE] --> this one just in case anybody asks!

Best Rgds,

I see what you mean, there seems to be a problem with ODBC and PSM7 using Vista and Windows 7. No data sources are listed in PSM. As far as I can tell, it does work fine on other platforms. I specifically tried MySQL.

We'll need to investigate this further, thanks for the report!

I am using MySQL ODBC with PSM v7.0.3. The version I am using is:
mysql-connector-odbc-5.1.6-win32

When you choose open DB the data sources are not listed, but if you just write any word and press open you will get to a window from where you can choose your datasource.

Thanks, I've been trying once again and it's true what you say (Christian), it does displays a window right after I type in anything... but now, when I select the System Data Source for my MySQL test DB, the following error shows up:

[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified

Just in case, I created a File DSN and the results are the same.

Any suggestions about this error message?

Thanks in advance!
