Hello,
I have a PSMW server with over 600 clients and 3000 contacts.
Since each account has FTP access, I have at least 600 publicationTypes.
When I log as admin and want to list or add publications, it's very slow. I've the same problem with PSM to add new template to the server.
How do I deal with this problem? Is there a way to create 1 FTP available to all logged customers?
Best regards

Philippe,

What kind of hardware are you running PrintShop Mail Web on? If you have 600 clients that often create orders (which implies softproof creation, generating output print jobs, traffic on the network and a lot of read/write on the disk), it may simply be that the server lacks the power necessary to make complex queries easily.

Edit: What do you mean by FTP accounts? PrintShop Mail Web doesn't have FTP capabilities, so how are you implementing the creation of FTP users, and how exactly are they submitting jobs? Seems to me like a very non-standard way of using this system...

Edit Reason: question on FTP

Eric,

sorry what I called FTP is (PSMW standard) File upload... each customer has file upload access, but some have variable data or static PDF.
I've a dedicated quad proc server...

Philippe,

I see. Well, there's no "accounts" per se with file uploads - it's just regular browser uploads to a website. What I'm thinking you mean is that you have separate companies and each have their individual, probably repeating or redundant, publication types and documents. What you'd like to do is create publication types that would be global to all companies or more than one company, am I right? If so, that's not currently possible, but I'm thinking it would be a valid feature request for a future release.

In the meantime, the only thing I could see that may help you would be to create a Public Company - one that acts like a regular website where anyone can create a login and place orders. Assuming you would do this, you could assign publication types and documents to that company only, and anyone with access to the PrintShop Mail Web interface could place orders for those documents, static PDF and file uploads.

This really depends on your business model and whether tracking orders for each company is important to you, and whether you want to restrict certain documents to certain companies.

Eric,

thanks for your reply. You understood what I was looking for : a regular browser upload for all companies, whitout need to create one for each.
Because PSMW is interfaced with our MIS, I need to strictly identify customers...

regards

Philippe
