Right now we are creating tiff images from single page PDF documents of varing counts. could be 4k to 15k single page PDF documents. This is on a dual core dual processor windows 7 Dell with 6GB of ram. Are there best practices for speeding up this process? The 4000 single page PDFs took around 2 hours 15 minutes to create.

prhoward,

How exactly did you go on about creating these tiff files? What actions did you use? (Create PDF, Digital Action, PlanetPress Image, etc...) Also also, how big are each individual pdf files? If each pdf files are a few kilobytes, this shouldn't be a problem, but if they are large, that could take longer.

The PDF starts anywhere between 800 and 14,000 pages. We are splitting the PDF into single pages for grouping reasons and that process is only taking 10 minutes. On the 4000 page PDF it took 2 1/2 hours to create the Tiffs using Digital Action set to Tiff G3.

prhoward,

I assume you use a form to load the pdf, and generate the tiff. Besides doing that, what else does it do? Does it contains some PressTalk code? And does it contains other images? If so, make sure you delete any unused images in your form, as they will still be processed even if you don't call them.

Raphaël
