Hi,

We are trying to setup the PP FAX using Windows Fax service. This is the error on the log file. Please suggest any ideas?
ERROR: F2007 : Error processing job: F2014 : Error faxing document: Operation failed; moving job to error folder

Thanks

rakesh,

We need more information on this case:

- Do you only get this error with one specific job, or all jobs?
- Did you properly define the fax number in your document? (you create a data selection with the fax number, then go to it's Acrhive/Email/Fax properties, and check "Fax number" at the bottom)
- Did you make sure you've installed the fax service you've selected? For example, if you chose Windows Fax, you need to have Windows Fax installed on your PC.
- Make sure the services have proper admin credentials. (In Workflow, go to Tools->Configure Services, uncheck local system account, and enter the proper domain and user name. User must have admin rights and usually, it's better to use the same that you're currently using in your Windows session)

Start with that, and let us know the results!

-error appears on all jobs
- checking the "fax number" did not do any good
- yes the windows fax service is installed. it is running under the account "NT Authority/NetworkService"
- Planetpress services are running as domain\administrator

Thanks
Rakesh

Rakesh,

You say "checking the fax number did not do any good"... does this mean it wasn't checked? Remember that the fax number used is the one defined in a data selection that has this option checked. If you didn't have it checked, after you've checked it, did you properly resent the form to Watch? If you did, make sure the .ptk is up do date. Right-click on it in the list of .ptk documents, and choose "Refresh". That will make sure it is properly up to date.

Did you also make sure that the dialing options are correct? Some fax numbers may require you to add a 1 or a 9 before the actual number, and if you don't add it, it might fail to properly fax. Double-check the options of PlanetPress fax.

Finally, are you able to fax out of Windows Fax outside of PlanetPress Fax? If not, then there might be problem with your modem or with the line that may be outside of PlanetPress.

Raphael,

It was checked before also. I was looking at the wrong data selection. The data selection for fax number is checked.

The dialing options are set correct. For a number such as (123) 456-7890 it dials 91234567890 if it is LOCAL and 911234567890 for OUTSIDE line.

I was able to send faxes outside of PlanetPress Fax successfully.

Do this test: create a new blank document, with nothing but a data selection containing the fax number. Check the "Fax Number" checkbox, and then send that to watch, and try using that form to do the faxing. Does it works? The purpose of this test is to rule out the possibility that it might be something inside of your forms that is causing the issue.

The Windows fax service was installed on this server after we had planetpress on it. Can I just uninstall and re-install Planetpress fax from this server?

Yes, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling PlanetPress Fax. Just run the installer, and choose "Modify". Uncheck the PPFax, and once it's done, rerun it again, and recheck it.

But before you try uninstalling, please do the test I've suggested with the blank test form.

Raphael,

Firstly, I reinstalled the PlanetPress Fax
Secondly, I tried the test you suggested. I created a blank form with just fax number and box checked. I used this form for faxing. It worked fine and we recieved the faxes.
I then removed the faxing using blank form (actually it was placed above the original form in process). The faxes were still coming through until this morning.
We restarted the PlanetPress server and the faxes stopped working.

Raphael:
Here is the summary of things so far:

Using PlanetPress Faxing with our original format is still giving error F2014
Faxing just using windows fax service works
Testing the blank form with fax number only for faxing works

How do I completely remove the format and resend it to workflow. Is that something which you would do?
What else do you see as a problem to PlanetPress Fax?

Thanks
Rakesh

Rakesh,

If the test form works, then there could be something in your form that it doesn't like. A couple of questions:

- Is it only with Fax that you have problems? Can you generate a pdf with Image using the same form?
- Are there any pdf files or other images in your form? If, just as a test, you try removing them, does that helps?
- Does your form has presstalk objects, or PressTalk in the PressTalk Before/After of certain objects or pages? If you try removing some of the presstalk, does that works better?
- What's the size of the data files you are submitting to the Workflow? Are they very large data files? If so, what if you send a smaller file?

Raphaël Lalonde Lefebvre

Raphael,

- Yes it is only the fax that we have problems. I can generate pdf with PP Image using the same form.
- There is only data file and image. The image is .png (size ~23kb).
- There is Presstalk before "&PageNo := &PageNo + 1". I think it is used to increment page number.
- I looked into the fax file error folder. The ps file size is ~750kb. Will you call this large data file.

I will eliminate the two: 'image' and 'Presstalk before' and see if fax works.

Regards,
Rakesh

Hi Raphael,

I eliminated 'presstalk before' from the page and resent the original format to workflow. Then refresh the documents in configuration file. Result: Faxing did not work.

Then I got rid of the 23 kb image file from original form. Result: Faxing did not work.

I created another process with Winque Input, Text Condition, Add Metadata, and Fax. The new format is a Blank Form with just fax number on it. Result: Getting error F2014 (same as above).

So, yesterday, I created a web request for technical assistance and haven't got the chance to work on it today (yet).

Hi

I went in the Service Console and reselected the domain, administrator and keyed in password. After restarting the services manually, I was able to send faxes using my original form.
I noticed something in the logs- the .pfx file are 0KB for fax jobs that are error. Does that tell you something about the problem?

We still haven't got this resolved.
Has anyone faced this problem? Under configure services I see

Warning! Current services are not running with the same username. Specify all services to run under the same username

Any idea what this is for? I checked all services are running as domain\administrator.

Hi,

This issue is being handled with a support call now. I will post any progress or resolution here for all to see.

So far I am not able to reproduce the issue in a test environment.

Seems like the Planet Press Fax service is simply not able to communicate with the Windows Fax service.

Hi,

Seems like the issue was related to the O/S. The user has since installed the Planet Press Fax connector on a different PC and the faxing works fine now.
