We are planning to upgrade our systems to Windows 7 and we have been told by our printer vendor that the Adobe PPD we are currently using is not compatible with Windows 7.

Our issue specifically is that we need to be able to pull differents stocks from different trays. We were told this would not be possible with Windows 7 because there was no driver that would allow us to utilize this function.

Is this true? Has anyone else experienced this? Where do we go from here?

Thanks,

Jpizzle,

First of all, this is the forum for Licenses, Activations and OL Care. Since your question is technical, in the future, please put your threads in the appropriate forum, in this case, "PrintShop Mail Design".

I do not have official information regarding the Adobe driver, as this is something from, well, Adobe, so it's not under our control. If the driver isn't compatible with Windows 7, then it won't work in PrintShop Mail, since PSM calls the features from the driver, they aren't built-in in the software. However, you would do well to try it first, and see if it actually doesn't work. Sometimes, it may not be "supported", but could still work. If you can install the driver and create a printer queue using that driver, I see no reasons why PSM wouldn't be able to use it. Now, if you can't even install it, then it's another story...

If the Adobe PPD doesn't work, you could try using the standard driver for that printer instead, and see if it works better. You can go to your manufacturer's web site to see what drivers are available, and you can try them in PSM and see if they work.
