Hi There

Can I ask that SFTP support makes it's way into Planet Press Watch. We've got some documents that need to be sent to a customer this way (their choice).

We've done a work-round for it but it'd be nice to do it all in Planet Press.

Regards

dazzaman,

This is a known feature request, but as far as I know, there is no short term plans for this. I know the upcoming version 7.4 won't include support for SFTP.

For now, it is not supported. It can probably be done through a script, or calling an external program that can do SFTP and run as a service, but those would be custom implementations, and not something we can provide support for.

Regards,
Raphaël Lalonde Lefebvre

+1 for a SFTP plugin. Just finished a PPW project where it was a requirement. For Internet related transfer it's becoming more standard.

SFTP is the worst acronym ever... Please define which SFTP you mean:
  • FTP over SSH
  • SSH File Transfer Protocol
  • FTP over SSL (aka FTPS)

Of course, I'm assuming you're not talking about the old SFTP (RFC-913) protocol...

It may be the worst acronym ever but to a lot of users it's how they refer to it, if you Google SFTP Wikipedia brings it up as the first search as part of the SSH protocol. "In computing, the SSH File Transfer Protocol (also Secret File Transfer Protocol, Secure FTP, or SFTP)." Sorry if you don't like the acronym but it's out there in the wild and not going away.

In my mind if you can implement one secure method you should implement all the ones you mention and give the end user choice, we'll only be back asking for something different late on.

I would certainly like to reinforce the request for SFTP (SSH-FTP), as it is now a requirement in my state for all state agencies using electronic file transfer.

Hi there is there any more decision on whether to implement any of the flavours of SFTP?

We've still got a requirement for it and I'd much rather do it via a Planet Press plugin than some scripting.

Hi there

Also we have a project where SFTP over PlanetPress would be required. It would be a nice feature!

Until such a time when the features are implemented natively in the Suite, you can easily use any of a number of free command-line utilities (e.g. WinSCP, PSFTP, CoreFTP, etc.). You'd call it from the "Run External Program" task in PlanetPRess Workflow, and pass whatever parameters are required for your specific needs.

I'd like to second the request for SFTP too. Quite odd imho that OL doesn't yet support it even though three years have passed since the previous reply on this topic.
