I am trying to output a high quality pdf using spot colours. I have set the alternate colour to cmyk in the spot color preferences but in the pdf produced the alternate colour is LAB.

Any ideas what i'm doing wrong?

Hi Nicko,

Is there a reason why you need to use spot colors?

Have you gone through our documention to know how to set it up?

http://help.objectiflune.com/en/printshop-mail-user-guide/Default_CSH.html#/121.html

Not all printers support Spot Colors. You would have to save the file as a .PS file and then user Adobe Distiller to create the PDF in order to use Spot Colors.

You could also take a different approach that might make things a alot easier for you.

If you go to File, Save as PDF and use the PrintShop Mail printer as the driver.

If you look you can change the PDF settings.

You can save in either PDF/A CMYK/RGB settings. If you have Adobe Acrobat you can even create your own joboptions file.

So that way you can control the output to get exactly what you are looking for.

Hope this helps.

Marc

Hi Marc,

The reason for using spot colors is the file generated (Business Card) will be printed offset.

The file has a logo which is in the pdf based document and the logo uses spot color. I have added variable text using these spot colors and also set the alternate color to CMYK.

The Spot color is being produced ok when I save as pdf. However the logo alternate color is CMYK but the Text alternate color is LAB.

I guess it doesnt matter if printing spot color but I just want to match the alternate color for logo.

cheers
