It would be nice if there was a PCL to PDF converter where it would render the PCL into a PlanetPress PDF with the text layer.

I must ask... in what context do you need this feature?

PCL files are currently not supported, but there are many ways to get pdf files in PlanetPress. Wondering if there's maybe an alternate way this could work.

I see a lot of PCL5 coming from hosts that are not able to print to a Windows print queue, but where they want to keep the PCL5 layout after the PCL codes are intepreted.

The basic idea would be a plug-in that would render the PCL5 to a PDF file with a PlanetPress text layer so we could process these files in a fashion simular to when PDF files are generated using the PlanetPress printer driver.

Usually the customer wants the same text layout but needs to slap on some conditional graphics, tray pulls, etc..

I agree with the request. In the meantime I use ghostpcl to convert pcl to pdf.
