Has anyone been experiencing issues with being able to change Job owner name in a Print Using Windows Driver output. This has seems to work in Server 2003 but not 2008R2. I have tried a static change and using variable data will not change.

Any ideas anyone?

As explained in the PlanetPress Suite Release Notes:
Quote:
21405: When printing through a Windows printer driver on Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2, the Job Owner setting is ignored. This is caused by a documented issue in those two Operating Systems. Microsoft has provided no reason nor workaround for the problem, therefore PlanetPress Workflow cannot circumvent the issue.

Hi Philippe,

Many Thanks for the fast response, where is this an issue If the server hosting PlanetPress is 2008 or if the print server I am trying to print to is 2008?

i.e.
PlanetPress Server / Print Server
2008 / 2008 ?
2008 /2003 ?
2003 /2008 ?
2008 / 2003?

My client want to go with the latest OS but if I can reduce the number of 2003 server the more accepting they will be.

Again many thanks

Regards
Dennis

Dennis,

To be honest, the combination isn't clear... Depending on what settings are used when printing from one PC to another, it's often difficult to tell which is doing the actual rendering, and which is providing information to the spooler.

One thing is sure: if PlanetPress Workflow runs locally on a Windows Server 2008 R2 system, then it won't be able to set the JobOwnerName. I would venture to say that this issue occurs on just about any system running that OS, whether the job originated from it or not. But don't quote me on that one, I haven't tested it.

Sorry I can't give you more precise information.

For reference: the issue is documented on this Microsoft MSDN page
