Looking compatibility input from users who use Accuzip and/or those who switched from Satori Bulkmailer Pro to Accuzip Business.

Reason for asking is that I currently run PP in debug mode when processing documents as Satori runs as an application and is not compatible with PP as a service, thus I get "Interactive Services Detection" error messages. Thus, since Accuzip Business uses scripts and hot folders, I am "assuming" that Accuzip runs as a service, similar to PPwatch service and then I can process documents in PP as it is designed to do.

Thank you in advance for your input.

Regards,

Hi Bryce,

I don't have much experience with Accuzip or Satori, but I do with Planet Press.

When running in debug it allows for user interaction. So if the 3rd party application sends a prompt/box the user can interact with it and click/fill out the needed info and will allow the process to run correctly.

But when you run Planet Press live(service) user interaction with a 3rd party application is not possible. As it is most likely an automated process and nobody would be sitting in front of the server waiting for a prompt/box to pop up and waiting for an input from the user.

When you say that Accuzip can grab a file from a hotfolder and then output the finished/reformated data file to another folder no user interaction is needed and that is the reason why it works with Planet Press.

There are a lot of applications that can run in "silent mode"(service). My recommandation at this point would be to find out if Satori can run in a "silent" mode and that should take care of your compatibility issue with Planet Press.

I know it might not answer your questions, but it might shed some light as to why it is not working.

I had a good look on the Satori website and I can't find any information on how to run the software in silent mode(service)

If anybody has any experience with Satori some input would be greatly welcomed.

Regards,

Bryce,

Please contact your PlanetPress Suite vendor, or call directly the Objectif Lune USA office. I know they have had many successful implementations with Satori, so they will be able to steer you towards the proper solution.

I believe that Satori's Mailroom Architect $$$$ is the level of software that will work with PP in service mode and will allow scripting of values to use for the current print run.

Maybe the concept I am thinking about is the ability to pre-populate a small text file with job information that would be consumed by Satori or Accuzip, similar creating using a text file or xml file that PP could look at to set job variables with preloaded information that I currently do in a few of my work flows.

I have been using Satori Bulk mailer since before using Planet Press. I have been getting a few "friendly" pokes to use PP as it is intended to be used. That is why I am thinking of taking a serious look at the Accuzip business version and looking input from anyone who is using Accuzip with PP before I would maybe consider paying a small fee to test Accuzip to see if it would achieve what I think I am looking for before actually buying and switching from Satori.

Thanks again for the input.

Regards.
