I have two projects in two different customers that we are planning to use PlanetPress and the middleware between a networked MFD and customer's credit system approval. PPS will be used to print the cover sheet with barcode and capture the scanned documents back using this cover sheet. The barcode will be read by PPS to create and XML file with the metadata to be upload with the scanned images to the customer's system. The only issue is the lack of an OCR engine to turn the scanned files searchable. Our intention is to use NSi AutoStore or Nuance ScanFlowStore to OCR the files, but this is going to increase the cost of the project to an unforbidden level. Do you have plans to have OCR in PlanetPress Image, or any workaround?

Currently, there are no short terms plans to implement an OCR feature in PlanetPress. (and I have no idea if they will implement in the long term)

The only kind of OCR technology we have is the Barcode Scan action, which you appear to be familiar with already. We also have the ICR feature with the Anoto pen, which is similar, and allows you to convert written text into text data usable by PlanetPress(and thus exportable to other softwares as well).

Other than that, however, PlanetPress dosn't have "true" OCR capabilities at this time.
