trying to proofs a dbf file as my data input file through watch/image to output some pdf files.

Input is just a drop in folder

Image

Output is an output folder

I guess works fine with dropping text files in there when proofing with tab delimited or line printer files. But something is not right when dropping in a dbf file. Thought that as long as the design form is setup for a dbf file this would work.

thanks helping

got it to the point where, you can load a database in the select mode under debugs.

then put in a PPdatabase Action and point to the same database

then run it

and I get an output

but I need to be able to switch data bases on the fly and not have to set it in so many places.

  • Drop your DBF into the folder that's monitored by the Folder Capture task.
  • Use a Send To Folder action to copy that file into a fixed location, overwriting whatever is already in there. Make sure you set a fixed name for the file (e.g. MyDatabase.dbf)
  • Use a PlanetPress Database task whose location always points to MyDatabase.dbf.
