Hi,

Is there a recommended method/process example that deals with closing orphaned patterns and reprinting in the following scenario:

Customer attempts to print a batch file of Capture documents (delivery tickets, contracts, etc..)

During the printing, the printer fails to print some pages (could be due to a jam or other hardware issue).

The customer obviously needs all of their documents so they can get their product out the door, so they will re-print usually from their host system. How best to identify the orphaned patterns and close them out?

thanks,
Lou

Hi Lou,

I'm sure there's a lot of ways to do this, and it's difficult to answer this over a newsgroup post, as it depends how your solution is built.

That said, you could try using the "Find Capture Document" action. This allow you to retrieve documents that corresponds to certain criterias. When you could do is whenever you submit a reprint, use the "Find Capture Document" plugin, and use "Document Title" to find the document that corresponds to the reprint. This assumes that you have given a name to the "Document Title" when you used "Capture Fields Generator". This can be dynamic, so it could be something that comes from your data file, such as a customer ID or something...

After the Find Capture Document, just use a "Get Capture Document", get all documents and check the box "Close document after retrieval". This way, whenever you submit a reprint, it will look at all documents that have this Document Title, and close them, ensuring that you won't get an orphaned pattern from the previous run when submitting your reprint.

That's just an idea, I'm sure there are other ways to do this. Feel free to contact Support if you want them to look at this with you. You may call 1-866-348-5863, or use the web page:
