Sabine Wimmer

The situation is as follows:

a customer has got several thousand PSM documents (PSM 7.2.4). Printer drivers reside on a server.
Now they changed their whole IT to Mac, with Windows 7 running in Parallels Desktop so that they can continue to use PSM
This works fine, they can create new PSM documents without problems and can open old documents.

But: due to the IT change, the paths to the printers / printer drivers have changed, too. Now if the customer tries to open a PSM document directly in Parallels, this document still has got the old Windows path to the printer; PSM then refuses to open the document (because it does not find the printer).

Is there a trick to 're-direct' PSM to the new path of the default printer when opening a document?
The only thing I can think of is changing the default printer (in the Windows 'devices and printers' dialog).

I can't reproduce the customer situation here, since I've got no Mac and therefore no Parallels Desktop. And I have never had a problem opening PSM documents because they had been created on another PC with - naturally - different printer settings.

the template can be edited via notepad search for <printers> and edit the parameters accordingly. Make sure the exact same driver is used check printer_preferences for the print paramters such as "tray 1"
