I can't seem to get Planet Press 7 to install on my machine. When I tried the Web Install it gets through the installation and then hangs at the registering plug-in files. I uninstalled it and tried the offline version and that gets hung up at C:\config.msi\443ffd.rbf. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bryan,

If the Web Install doesn't work, try the Offline installer instead. It takes longer to download, but should include all the necessary files, and it won't have to try and download them.

Also, note that the "Registering Plug-in" part of the install can take a while, I've personally seen it last for several minutes. Sometimes it seems like it's hung up when it really isn't, so maybe you could try waiting a few minutes longer, and see if it eventually goes through.

Regards,

I have let it sit for at the plug-in for over a half hour. I have tried the offline version as well and I still can not get through the install.

Do you have security softwares like Anti-Virus that could be interferring, perhaps preventing the .dll files from being registered properly? Perhaps try disabling your AV, at least during the installation process, and see if that helps.

Also, make sure you are installing PlanetPress under an administrator account.

I've seen this occur once or twice before, but we have never been able to replicate it in-house.

Click Cancel. I know it sounds counter-productive, but it may tell you the Setup has been cancelled... and then it will proceed to complete the installation successfully (and automatically).

Let us know if that worked.

The cancel button was actually greyed out. I opened task manager ans saw that 2 instances of both PP Printer and PP suite.exe were running. I killed the ones that were small in memory size (1Mb) or so. Then the install continued and said it was successful. Then realized the reason it never completed was because the Print Spooler Service was not enabled. I enabled and ran a repair. I had to kill the smaller running services again, plus the ICR.exe process and it completed successfully and installed the Planetpress printer. This was on Windows Server 2008 R2 and I used a local admin account plus I disabled Norton Endpoint Antivirus before beginning the installation.
