Hi opMike2013,

There is no documentation on command line switches, and I don't even think Design has any. It's not really meant to be used as a command line application.

Are you looking for a specific feature? What are you trying to do?

Regards,
Raphaël Lalonde Lefebvre

Command-line switches are generally used for automation. And, since we have PlanetPress Workflow, doing command-line automation would be redundant and unnecessary.

There isn't a whole lot of things that you could do with a command line beyond things that can either a) be done through Workflow or b) requires manual input anyways.

But if there is, let us know and we'll figure out a way to help you out. There's always a way wink

We are currently running the same document setup with different data data files. We probably re-setup the document 40 times a day. Data layout is always the same.

Each document setup needs to print from 2 different data files.

I was thinking that it would be a huge time savings to call the document with a switch to the data file. I could easily do this in a script that would greatly reduce errors by eliminating the repetitive nature of re-connection data all the time. There is a large risk for error when you have to manually reconnect this many data files.

You are correct. I come from a statement world where that kind of workflow is common. This company does a lot of marketing mail so it isn't often that we need to run a workflow.

So essentially, you need to run one document using different data file so you're opening those data files from PlanetPress Design, with no change to the document?

When I say "be done through Workflow" I don't mean the generic meaning of "workflow". I mean, literally, PlanetPress Workflow, our product, that does automation through a simple drag and drop interface. Here you could set up a hot folder to receive your data files, then output to a printer directly. This is the simplest, easiest process that PlanetPress Workflow was built to do...

Workflow (which comes in 3 different licenses which are Watch, Office and Production) is what you're looking for. Unless I'm sorely mistaken, it's always included in PlanetPress Suite so you already have a license for it, you just need to use it (or install it first, then use it).

I like the idea of this workflow tool; however, I'm not seeing it in our apps. We normally have someone from Ricoh do the install but I am a system admin so I can install anything if it is available. What is my next step to getting a workflow tool installed.

You would have to re-run the installer and simply add the component, that should be fairly straightforward.

Just go to http://planetpress.objectiflune.com/en/suite/resources/support , and you'll need your serial number (in the Help tab of PlanetPress Design, Software Activation icon) to download it. There's an option in the installer to change the installed components. You should be able to download the version you currently have (but an update to 7.6 won't hurt you in any way).
