Hi

I have a pdf I'm trying to print to with PSM v 7.2.8

It looks fine on screen, and when I preview. However when I print to a PDF via Adobe I get extra lines appearing.

These appear to be crops, so it's obviously down to the way the pdf was set up, but is there any setting I can use that just prints things as they appear.

I don't want to have to convert all pdfs I receive to graphics just in case there's an issue with them - but I'll end up doing that otherwise as the problems can be hard to see at first glance.

Example on screen:

Example when printed to pdf (note crop marks around the edges):

Thanks

If you are opening the file using a recent version of Adobe Acrobat Pro DC you have a tool feature called "Print production" if you click on it and then select Flattener Preview then click apply that usually takes care of the problem for me the other way to do it is by reprinting the PDF via Adobe distiller both solutions will only take about 30 seconds.

Hopefully this is helpful to you, best regards!

Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately I tried this and the loss of quality was not acceptable. I also don't have distiller.

Any other ideas? - I was hoping for just a simple setting within PSM.

The only other thing I can do is convert to graphics, but I've found this can introduce some oddities as well - a shaded area appears on the copy.

I'm beginning to think this is hopeless...

I'd like to take a look, would you be able to upload that PDF somewhere?

Thanks for providing the PDF.

Printing to PDF through PSM is a two-step process that involves two Adobe components: one for converting PDF to EPS and one for converting PS (with the EPS embedded) to PDF. We recently updated the component that converts PS to PDF (this is not public, there are currently no plans to release an official patch) and I was hoping this would fix the issue with this PDF, but it does not. The problem appears to be caused by the other component, but updating that component is not going to be easy.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a workaround that doesn't involve recreating the PDF.

I'll create an internal problem ticket, but other than that I'm out of ideas. Sorry I couldn't be of more help..
