Our PlanetPress image process appeared to have hung when workflow was working properly and sending PDF files to the email server. We attempted to restart the PlanetPress Image 7 service from the service console and encountered repeated errors "waiting for all work items to shut down". We have restarted image in the past without issues, but this time is stuck in a "stopping.." state.

What are our options from here? Does workflow have to also restart? Is a server reboot needed? Would rebooting while this service is trying to stop cause corruption after the server starts?

Hi Dave-Ohio,

PlanetPress will always wait till all jobs are completed before shutting down a service, so if a job is running, or is stuck for some reason, it won't let you do a normal service shutdown. What you can do is Kill the services. Open up the Service Console, right-click on the service that you want to stop, and select "kill". This will force it down. You could also kill the running services from the Windows Task Manager.

Note that if you do that, it might leave some temp files in the spool folders. Double-check the following folders, and delete their content to make sure there aren't any temp files left:

C:\ProgramData\Objectif Lune\PlanetPress Suite 7\PlanetPress Watch\Spool
C:\ProgramData\Objectif Lune\PlanetPress Suite 7\PlanetPress Image\Spool
C:\ProgramData\Objectif Lune\PlanetPress Suite 7\PlanetPress Image\In
C:\ProgramData\Objectif Lune\PlanetPress Suite 7\PlanetPress Image\QueuedJobs

This will remove any temp files and pending jobs that could still be stuck. Then you can restart the services, and everything should be good to go again. Note that the pending jobs that were deleted will have to be resent.
