Hello,

I always have trouble with my barcode plugin. It works for a while, then one day, it just stops displaying barcodes. The box is there and everything looks normal except there isn't a barcode displayed. Doesn't matter what code I'm using (usually Data Matrix or QR). Sometimes all it takes is a reboot of my computer but other times I have to reinstall PSM. Several other coworkers are running PSM 7 as well and none of them have this issue. Is there anything I can do to stop this?

Specs on everything I'm running:
Printshop Mail 7.2.4
Barcode Plugin 2.2.1.7893
Windows 10 Pro

Hi Dan,

I don't think we've seen that particular issue before.

There are similarities to a known issue in Windows 10 that affects how things are rendered. This issue only occurs on certain machines (trigger still unknown), it can be fixed by deleting and recreating the user profile (would not recommend that), but it would always resurface again after a while.

The permanent fix for that is:
Quote:
- Find PSMail.exe in your installation folder
- Right-click PSMail.exe, select Properties
- In the Compatibility tab, place a checkmark next to "Override high DPI scaling behavior"
- Change that setting to System (the default value is Application)
- OK

If that doesn't help I'm not sure what else to try, please consider opening a support ticket.

Awesome. I've adjusted that so we'll see what happens. Also, it is running the application in Compatibility mode for Windows 8. Is that correct? Should it be 7?

You can experiment with running the application in compatibility mode but I have no experience with that. The only thing that I know of that will affect behavior of PSM is "Override high DPI scaling behavior".

So this problem has resurfaced. I have the "Override high DPI scaling behavior" set to System. I've tried adjusting the Compatibility mode but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Is there anything else I can try?
FWIW, my display settings are 1920 x 1080. I have a coworker who doesn't have this issue and his is set the same.

If a barcode is not rendered because of a "normal" error (for example, invalid input data) you should be able to see the error with Layout > Verify Document. I have no idea why the same input data might only "sometimes" fail, very odd.

The barcode plugin in the last official release of PSM (7.2.8) has version 2.2.3 of the barcode plugin and this plugin includes a major upgrade of the third-party library we use to process barcodes (10.x to 11.2).

You should be able to use all 7.2.8 plugins in 7.2.4 if you can't upgrade PSM for some reason. Copy the entire Plugins folder from a 7.2.4 installation, create a backup of the Plugins folder of your 7.2.8 installation (just in case), clear that folder, and copy over all of the contents of the Plugins folder from 7.2.4.

No guarantee that it will help though..
