I have one job where my client sends me a pdf, I split it into individual pdf files and extract the name and address to do postal sorting. I then merge the address back with the pdf as a picture object but when I do some of the fonts on the pdf get changed and become either incorrect info or unreadable characters. I've tried also placing the image using showpdf() in talk code and I get the same result.

Any Ideas???

so you're adding the pdf page to the layout page as background? And once added some texts get unreadable?
Are the fonts all embedded in the pdf? What encoding they've got assigned?

Yes the page is added as a background.
All fonts are embedded with built-in encoding.

built-in encoding may be a problem as this can get lost when pdf is converted to postscript internally. ANSI encoding would be better.
So I guess the font encoding is causing this issue.

I believe they are creating their pdf using crystal reports, do you have any Idea how I tell them to change that?

sorry, I don't know the options crystal reports is providing for creating pdf, they should check that.
What you could try is to print that pdf via a pdf printer to a new pdf, maybe this is fixing the issue.
