I am trying to create a packing slips for a distribution. The text box containing the name and items is 7.5 inch high. If the data exceeds that height, I would like more pages to be created to accomadate excess data for that page. (I can have a maximum of 280 lines).

How do I get the additional pages to be created.

you could enable the repeat mode of the object you'd like to overflow (find it in object's properties under "Repeat").
The repeat mode is providing fields for conditions to iterate over data and when to exit and overflow to next page.

I have tried but I have not been successful. The data I am working with has 1 line per record (tab delimited) not a vertical layout or printer dump.

Looking for a way to solve my problem. I have manage to find out the text box height with that line in the PressTalk After after creating the global variable BoxHeight.

&BoxHeight := &Height

Is there an equivalent to get the number of lines in that text box and a way to print from lines A to B on textbox in page 1, from line B+1 to C in textbox on page 2, etc?

you would need to count the lines yourself.
It's possible with scripting I think.
But difficult to tell more without the template and the data.
There is a solution for sure but may need lot of scripting.
