I have installed PP design and Production in Windows server 2008 Sp2. But apparently our printing spooling in the output driver (im using win queue) is slowing down if I configure to 6 printer driver output, the output time is doubling (example: 15minute for 42 record printing booklet).

Same thing happen when I'm installed in Windows 7 and run the program, but when I try to installed the system in Windows XP SP3 the output is running very fast(example: 3minute for 42 record printing booklet.

So what issue has comes up for the new operating system? is there any solution for Windows Server 2008 and win 7.

my PP version is 7.1.3.5223.

Thanks
Arief Wicaksono

Are there any results to report? We are having same issue with a significant decrease in performance running server 2008 sp2 64bit OS.

I have ran a test (10,000 page print job), recording the time it takes for WATCH to process and release to printer (job is running optimized, not printer centric). Running latest version of PP - 7.2.3

2008 server 64bit ~ 28 min
2008 server 32bit ~ 23 min
Windows XP ~ 16.5 min
2003 server 32bit ~ 8 min

I would still like to try 2003 server 64bit, Windows 7 64bit, and Windows 7 32bit.

I'm trying to find the right OS for best performance.
Has anyone else done any testing and know what OS is giving the best performance?

jkollman,

Sorry for the delay.

Remember that PlanetPress is actually a 32 bits application. So while 64 bits systems can make it work, PlanetPress is not a native 64 bits application, and so it won't take advantage of the 64 bits environment, and there might still be a few performances and compatibility issues.

From my personnal experience, in terms of overall performances, XP and 2003 32 bits provides the best results, and it seems like your tests point to the same direction. So if it's possible for you, I would recommend that you use either one for PlanetPress. The best might be 2003 if you plan on making a PlanetPress Workflow Server.
